During the past years the
orchestration has been continuously varying as an experimental workshop
to try different suitable alternatives for an Iranian National Orchestra
in order to reach the best sound balance. With this purpose every
rational, possible choice has been experienced during orchestras
different performances. Since the combination of classical instruments
and Iranian traditional ones is of great importance and has a remarkable
influence on orchestras sound quality, certain attention has been paid
to the way these instruments are being arranged together. There has also
been a place for woodwind classical instruments and Nei, the Iranian
counterpart, in addition to the Piano in the total orchestration of
Hengam. The combinational aspect of the orchestration can also be seen
in the percussion instruments where the classicalinstruments such as
kettledrum, cymbals, tympani, tambourine and the triangle meet the
Iranian ones such as Tombak, Dammam and Daf.
