Hengam Iranian National Orchestra
is one the few non-governmental orchestra’s in Iran that has been
rehearsing and performing constantly since 2002 in Shiraz.Hengam was
established in 2002 at Shiraz University of Medical Sciences, from which
it parted after one year, to continue its activities separately. During
the past years Hengam has been practicing under the supervision of Zand
Music Institute. The rehearsals take place every week at the very place
of Zand Institute. Hengam has performed a lot of concerts including the
yearly performances of its own in addition to a number of performances
on different cultural occasions, such as: the ending of Mehregan
Festival-Shiraz, the Doctors’ day ceremony in Afif Abad Garden-Shiraz,
Sa’adi memorial day at Sa’adi tomb-Shiraz,Iranian Music Nights in Vahdat
Auditorium-Tehran and a number of other events...
During the recent years about 150 players and vocalists have been
accompanying Hengam, some of whom are still working as constant members
and the rest as guests. The players have been hand-picked among the best
Music instructors or individuals in Shiraz. “Hengam Choir” joined the
Orchestra on April 2007 and is still practicing alongside the
rehearsals. The concert Master is “Masih Mosallaee” who has been
instructing violin for years now and among the soloists who have
performed with Hengam in the recent performances are: Jamal Bordbar,
Azad Rastin, Farhad Kazemi, Alireza Ghorbani Nejad, Poureya Bazangani,
Masoud Tavaro’, Amir Khalife, Ghazal Tabandeh, Mohammah Karim Ebrahimi,
Mohammad Amin dashti and Amir Rahaee.
Generally Hengam’s orchestration is known to be “Iranian National” and
it has focused on playing an Iranian National repertoire.
However in every concert a few
classical pieces have been chosen to be performed by the classical part
of the orchestra. Among the
Iranian pieces performed by Hengam are: “Nokhost Golbang Mezrabi”,
“Sabokbal”, “Fantasia for Tar and Orchestra”, “Shoushtari for Violin and
Orchestra” from the pieces written by Hossein Dehlavi and Abol Hassan
Saba, “Spring Dance” by Shahrdad Rohani, “Dayere Dance” by Heshmat
Sanjari, “Parichehr and Parizad-Pish daramad and Reng” by Darvish khan
and a few of Iranian folkloric pieces. And some of the classical pieces
preformed are: Hungarian Dance No. 5 by Johannes brahms , Czardas
by monti, Vapensiero by Josepha Verdi and Air on G String by Johann
Sebastian Bach.
